Helping his teachers understand the materials is a real chore. Help ing them to know how to work creatively with children and young people is an assignment with high priority despite its difficulty. But the chaplain knew that, perhaps more than in' any civilian church, creative, exciting, even compelling teaching is important. And he was just as certain that the children need to hear the same gospel on the base as in civilian life.
So he said to the attractive young mother, It is important for the teaching we do here to be as normal as possible. Our boys and girls will grow up, after all, to be civilian men and women. Although the specific problems that teachers here face are very different, the content of our teaching must be the same.
