A portable size is preferred, as being more com anodious for easy reference on all occasions. The smallness of the volume has not, however, occasioned any injurious diminution of its contents. It compre 'hends at least as many essential words as any larger Dictionary; and care has been taken not to swell the 'book, by inserting obsolete or vulgar expressions. In lieu of these are substituted the useful and technical words Of arts, sciences, and trade.
