Paperback. Condition: New. Print on Demand. This book contains the proceedings of a convention held in Cumberland County, New Jersey in July of 1812. The convention was called in response to the declaration of war against Great Britain by the United States Congress on June 18th of that year. The delegates to the convention were opposed to the war and sought to repeal the law declaring it. They believed that the war was unnecessary and that it would be detrimental to the interests of the United States. The convention issued an address to the people of New Jersey in which they outlined their objections to the war and called for a change in the administration. The address also called for the election of delegates to a national convention to nominate candidates for president and vice president who would oppose the war. The convention's proceedings provide valuable insights into the political climate of the United States during the War of 1812 and the concerns of those who opposed it.
