All unusual words have been avoided; the stories are not descriptive but rather full of progressive action which lends itself easily to conversation. The exercises increase gradually in length, but are never so long that a student will not be able to retell them. The retelling of the anecdote will be found to be excellent practice for the student, provided that mere mechanical learning-by-heart is avoided.
