Si tous les auteurs avaient pris le même soin pour s'assurer qu'ils ajoutaient quelque chose 'aux découvertes de leurs devaneiem; s'ils n'avaient jamais rien publié qu'après avoir trouvé une réponse affirmative à cette question, on n'aurait pas besoin de tant de peine pour devenir érudit: on pourrait bien vite rassembler tout ce qui aurait été dit sur une maladie, comme il serait peut - être d'ob bligation de le faire dans toute monographie. J'en avais eu l'idée pour l'ap0plexie, et je m'étais proposé de donner un'extrait rapide de tous les auteurs un peu saillans qui ont écrit sur cette affection: les longueurs et les difficultés d' une pareille entreprise m'ont eu bientôt forcé de l'ajourner. Je nîai pourtant pas cru que cette raison dût m'empêcher de faire connaître des observations auxquelles le travail dont-je parle n'aurait, à vrai dire agen ajouté.
