Excerpt from Die Religion der Römer
Herrn Professor Dr. W. H. Roseher danke ich für die freundliche Übersendung der Fahnen verschiedener Artikel seines mythologischen Wörterbuches vor ihrer Veröffentlichung. Zu ganz besonderem Danke fühle ich mich Herrn Professor Dr. G. Wis sowa verpflichtet, der mir die Benutzung seiner Vorlesung über römische Mythologie und Sacrälaltertümer aus dem Winter in liebenswürdigster Weise gestattete; diese Vorlesung, als deren Hauptvorzüge ich'die Verbindung von Kult und Götterlehre, die Anordnung der Gotter nach historischen. Gesichtspunkten, insbe sondere aber die streng durchgeführte Scheidung römischer und griechischer Religionsanschauungen betrachte, war mir bis auf die neu hinzugefügten Abschnitte über das Wesen der römischen Religion, über die Feste und uber den Privatkult im großen und ganzen für die Anlage des Werkes vorbildlich und bot mir auch im einzelnen mannigfache Belehrung und Anregung. Überhaupt verweise ich alle, die über die eine oder andere der hier nur kurz berührten Fragen sich eingehend orientieren wollen auf Herrn Prof. 'wissowas im Herbste d. J. Erscheinendes Werk „rei ligion und Kultus der Römer (handbuch der class. Altertums wiss. Als dessen Vorläufer ich die vorliegende Darstellung angesehen wissen möchte.
