Explore the origins and questions of Eugenics, a field that links heredity, environment, and social policy.
This accessible introduction surveys what eugenics studies and why it matters for society. It traces ideas from pioneer Francis Galton to their reception in modern questions about birth rates, population, and human potential. The book explains how heredity and environment are seen to shape the race, and why data, statistics, and social conditions matter for future generations.

Excerpt from An Introduction to Eugenics
As in all branches of science, a knowledge of the range and methods involved in the inquiry is the first requisite to a clear understanding of the subject. Consequently greater stress has been laid on this aspect of Eugenics than on any theoretical deductions to which, as yet, It is true that the assured facts are not yet numerous but for a science which is still in its infancy, the results are full of promise for future achievement. A few years of work cannot suffice to touch even the surface of the ground to be submitted to investigation, much less to produce a series of final answers. The most striking results attained are the opening up of an immense field of inquiry and the realisation of the almost oppressive importance that must be attached to a right solution of the problems at issue.
