Excerpt from Studies on the Silver Coulometer: A Dissertation, Presented to the Faculty of Princeton University in Candidacy for the Degree of Doctor of Philosophy
In the discussion which followed Duschak and Hulett's2 work on the silver coulometer the point was made by Mr. Hering3 that, since platinum is known to contain oxygen in some form, it seems possible that dissolved oxygen may play some part in the deposition of silver, and it would naturally follow that abnormal weights might be caused thereby.

Paperback. Condition: New. Print on Demand. Unveiling the precision of silver as the standard for measuring electric current, this book delves into a detailed investigation of the silver coulometer. The author meticulously examines the impact of various factors on the accuracy of silver deposition, including the purity of electrolytes, the influence of anode solutions, and the role of the cathode material. Through a series of controlled experiments, the book presents valuable insights into the behavior of silver in electrochemical reactions, providing a deeper understanding of its significance in electrical measurements. The exploration of alternative cathode materials, such as gold and alundum, further enriches the discussion on the intricacies of silver deposition. Ultimately, the book establishes the importance of meticulous attention to experimental conditions to ensure the reliability of the silver coulometer as a precise tool for quantifying electric current.
