Excerpt from Ruby Red: A Play in One Act
Scene. - A room in the Hotel Oriental, Biskra, on the edge of the desert. At the rear a couple of arched tvindoiv openings with no coverings look out upon a balcony, beyond xohich appear the curved domes and peaked minarets of the creamcolored city against the clear sky. A draped doorxvay leads to this same balcony. The fancifully furnished room contains oriental rugs, a couple of low divans piled xcith cushions, a couple of lozv lounging chairs, several tabourets. A low table contains writing materials and other required articles such as matches, oriental cigarettes, and a leather case of express money checks.
[When the curtain rises Billy is walking about restlessly. Danesi, in a delicate morning goxvn, is signing express checks. She rises and stretches out luxuriously upon a divan.

[After standing looking out one of the arches at the hack. Shrugging his shoulders.] Aw! this makes me sick!

Paperback. Condition: New. Print on Demand. This book is a one-act play set in a luxurious hotel in Biskra, on the edge of the Algerian desert. It follows the story of Jane, a young and romantic American woman, and her practical husband, Billy. While Jane is captivated by the exotic allure of the desert and its inhabitants, Billy remains skeptical and longs for the comforts of home. The play explores the themes of romance, adventure, and cultural differences. Jane's fascination with the Orient and its people leads her to question her own life and values. Billy, on the other hand, represents the more grounded and pragmatic perspective, constantly trying to bring Jane back to reality. Through the characters' interactions and the vivid descriptions of the exotic setting, the author delves into the complexities of human relationships and the search for meaning in life. This play is a thought-provoking and entertaining exploration of the clash between dreams and reality, and the enduring power of love and connection.
