Excerpt from The Library Collected by the Late Joseph B. Shea, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
Mr. Shea's special delight was in personal narratives of all kinds, but he devoted most of his attention to his famous collection of narratives Of Indian captivity, an alphabetical list of which follows this intro duction. This list includes the separate narratives and only a few of the many hundreds found in collected works described in this cata logue. The rarest of this group is the Fleming narrative published in Philadelphia in I 7 57 with an introduction newly ascribed to Benjamin Franklin, believed to have been printed by Franklin Hall. Aside from the narratives of Indian captivity, there is a huge collection of historical material relating to the Indians, including some of the rarest items.
