Judge Theophilus J. Moll, the author of this Lecture, was born at Evansville, Indiana, in 1872. Having completed the high school course with hon ors, he attended depauw University, from which he received his bachelor's degrees in philosophy and law. He was appointed clerk of the Superior Court at Evansville, and after serving two years was awarded a scholarship at Cornell University and received his master's degree in law. He was given a scholarship at Columbia University, which he resigned to take up the practice of law in In diana, having been admitted in 1894.
