Excerpt from A Rigorous Solution of a Many-Body Problem
The scattering cross-section is calculated tor the problem of a particle incident on another bound to the origin. The scattered par ticle interacts both with the fixed potential at the origin and the bound particle. Two solutions are obtained: one for the case where the two particles are similar and one for the case where they are dis similar. The motion of each particle is one-dimensional, and the inter actions are artificially chosen so that the Schrodinger equation is integrable. Thus, although the model chosen here has no physical reali ty. It is expected that the results will be useful in evaluating ap proximation techniques for physical particle scattering problems.

Paperback. Condition: New. Print on Demand. This book offers a rigorous solution to particle scattering problems in quantum physics, exploring the behavior of particles interacting with fixed or bound potential fields. The author's innovative use of an artificial but integrable Schrà dinger equation allows for a better understanding of approximation techniques commonly employed in the field. Through two illustrative examples, the book examines different and identical particle scenarios, providing insights into exchange phenomena and inelastic scattering processes. These detailed analyses help establish the accuracy of various approximation methods, including the Born and Oppenheimer approaches. The book's pedagogical nature and accessible explanations make it a valuable resource for students, researchers, and practitioners seeking to advance their knowledge of quantum particle scattering and approximation techniques in physics.
