Seller: Forgotten Books, London, United Kingdom
Paperback. Condition: New. Print on Demand. As voyages of exploration in the 16th century increased, so too did interest in the written accounts of explorers. This book examines the ways in which the prose romances of chivalry, a well-established and popular genre at the time, were influenced by these exploration accounts and geographical ideas. The writer explores how these romances began to adopt elements of the "New World" and how this increasing awareness of the wider world gradually changed the way such romances were written. Through this shift, the book not only contributes to our understanding of how the prose romances of chivalry evolved, but also how the European view of the world gradually embraced the greater, multi-cultural reality of the Renaissance. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item. Seller Inventory # 9781331922575_0
