Excerpt from A Monograph of Levi
I have been moved to put it forth because I feel that, as a general rule, in their allotment of the tribes to the two Houses of Israel they are too superficial; that, not being a vital point, they have not troubled themselves to delve below the surface and give due weight to such evidence as there is, but are content to jog along in the old wheel-ruts without reflecting whither these conduct. I venture to think they conduct - and I submit the opinion with the deference due to many who are older in this science than myself - to Scripture confusion. I have therefore endeavoured, to the best of my ability, to collate the evidence.

Paperback. Condition: New. Print on Demand. This book examines the historical role of the tribe of Levi within the broader context of the twelve tribes of Israel. The author challenges previous perspectives which have often positioned Levi as a Judaean tribe rather than an Israelite one, offering a meticulous analysis of biblical and historical sources to support their argument. Drawing upon archaeological, linguistic, and cultural evidence, the book presents an in-depth exploration of Levi's presence and influence throughout history, from the time of Moses to the present day. Ultimately, the book sheds new light on the enigmatic history of this consecrated tribe and its enduring significance for biblical and historical studies.
