Excerpt from The New Black Magic: And the Truth About the Ouija-Board
It should be pointed out that this book does not attempt to deal with abnormal phenomena which occur spontaneously - with apparitions or forms resembling the dead coming unsought for, such as have been recorded in all ages of the world's history and of which we have had accounts during the great war. Such phenomena follow some law which is quite unknown to us, or they are due to some act of God necessarily outside our knowledge and beyond our control. The evidence in favor of these phenomena is of a varied kind and is, in many respects, very conflicting. It is difficult, in most instances, to distinguish the objective from the purely subjective. In a variety of cases the phantom seen is manifestly the creation of the percipient's own brain. The dead, with few exceptions, present themselves, not in the form in which they appeared when last seen on earth, but in that in which the percipient best remembers them. Their statements respecting the other life and their new environment, too, vary considerably and are often quite contradictory.

Paperback. Condition: New. Print on Demand. This book dives deep into the history of spiritualism, examining the claims of those who believe that new revelations are being delivered through the practices of mediumship and spirit communication. The author delves into the historical context, tracing the origins of spiritualism and necromancy back to ancient civilizations and examining how these practices were viewed by various religious and cultural groups. The author critically analyzes the core tenets of the "New Revelation," exploring how its claims contradict traditional Christian beliefs about the fall of man, the atonement of Christ, and the nature of the afterlife. The book scrutinizes the practices of mediumship, raising concerns about the methods used to elicit spirit communications and their potential to compromise the mental, moral, and physical well-being of those involved. Throughout the book, the author challenges the idea that spiritualist practices can reliably provide a true and trustworthy source of revelation. By drawing on historical evidence and the experience of individuals involved in spiritualist practices, the author provides a compelling argument for the need to carefully examine and question the claims of those who believe in spirit communication as a source of spiritual truth.
