Trast to each other. Notwithstanding the various learned works which have been written by English liturgical scholars, it cannot be said with any truth that the ancient Liturgies have been as yet subjected by them to a sufficiently thorough and comprehensive analysis; and in this respect the German scholars show a marked superiority. Unfortunately, till recently, English liturgical writers have in the main belonged to one school Of thought in the Church, and have approached the subject with prepossessions and assumptions which have coloured the medium through which they have viewed the subject. Paperback. Condition: New. Print on Demand. This book explores the deep connections between the early Christian Church and its Jewish origins. The author delves into the belief systems and practices of both faiths, highlighting the profound ways in which the rituals and organization of the early Christian Church emerged from the Jewish tradition. Through a meticulous analysis of ancient texts and historical records, the author demonstrates that the structure of the Christian liturgy, including the Eucharist and baptism, developed from Jewish practices. Moreover, the book argues that the concept of the Church as a separate entity from the Jewish community was a fundamental shift influenced by tensions between the two groups. This in-depth examination not only provides a clearer understanding of the origins of Christian rituals but also illuminates the complex relationship between these two influential religions.
