Excerpt from Capturing the Colonel: And Other Themes
I am pleased to be with you. However, it is only by a tight squeeze that I am here. Some years ago, I visited the State Normal School at Cape Girardeau, Mo., and while there, I heard of a young lady who became alarmed about her grades. She feared that she had failed in the examination in some of her studies. Finally, one morning, one of the teachers told her that she had passed, but that it was a tight squeeze. She promptly answered, Oh well, I al ways did like a tight squeeze, any how.
