General Porfirio Diaz remained in power for so many years, because his government gave to the country that which it craves peace! The moment, therefore, that the govern ment was unable to quell the incipient revolution incited by Madero, the people for the first time became aware of its weak ness and its inability to supply their wants - peace, order, and the opportunity quietly to earn their daily bread and at that moment they rose in a body and peremptorily demanded back the rights which they had sacrificed, and summarily over-threw the government which could no longer satisfy these natural cravings.
