The proviso which the House had inserted in the Missouri bill, against the further introduction of slaves, was stricken out in the Senate by a vote of twenty-two to sixteen. The clause for the freeing of the children of Slaves, was also cancelled, receiving but seven votes. The House, by a vote of seventy eight to seventy-six, refused to concur in this amend ment, and the Missouri bill, at that session, was lost.
