About the Author

Binyon (1869-1943) was an art historian and poet. Educated at Oxford, he worked at the British Museum, and in 1903 was made the Keeper of the Sub-Department of Oriental Prints and Drawings. He wrote numerous pioneering books on art, and his writings are said to have influenced Ezra Pound, W.B. Yeats, and other Romantics.
