Paperback. Condition: New. Print on Demand. Thoughtful 18th-century political tracts explored the issues of the day with no shortage of eloquence and this book is no exception. Describing the time as one of "alarming affairs," the author explores potential top-down reforms in an effort to curb corruption and offer hope of a better tomorrow. They argue that the root of many of the ills of the time is that the interests of the people are not adequately represented due to the way in which political leaders rise to power and maintain their positions. The author makes many astute observations about the challenges faced by a nation whose people are not universally afforded a true voice in their own governance. This is a fascinating and timely book that will resonate with contemporary readers seeking a deeper understanding of the foundations of democracy.
