Unlock the fullness of 1 Peter with a trusted early commentary This edition presents Wilhelm Steiger’s Exposition of the First Epistle of Peter, Vol. 1, focusing on the verse-rich opening and the author’s aim to restore clear, faithful understanding of divine truth for the church and studious readers alike.
This volume frames the need for a careful exegesis that goes beyond criticism, offering a foundation for interpreting Peter’s message in a way that invites reflection, teaching, and practical faith. It pairs the author’s Preface and Translator’s Preface with scholarly breadth, situating the commentary within a historical call to deepen biblical understanding while remaining accessible to readers today.

Excerpt from Exposition of the First Epistle of Peter, Vol. 1 of 2: Considered in Reference to the Whole System of Divine Truth
That there is yet needed labour, much labour, who thinks of denying? So far, indeed, it may be denied, that already a great deal has been done that everywhere a holy foundation has been laid, and a building raised upon it with pious care. Of this, the present work may serve for a proof, and help also to vindicate the despis ed and forgotten period of a former age, to the vexation and disgust, no doubt, of much exist ing vanity! The work would not be in vain, if this were to be its highest, its only worth. But a higher thing is the word of God itself, which alone is possessed of indubitable worth; and to render manifest its fulness, its precise meaning and immovable security, is the calling, the work and honour of an expositor.
