The title of this work indicates, that the Church History of the Eighteenth and Nineteenth Centuries is regarded from the side of Evangelical Protestantism. It is so important that the significance of the last two words be perceived, that we are constrained to dwell on them at more length than would be required, were there not a greatly perverted use of the word Protestantism largely prevalent in our current liter ature.
