It has been my endeavour to restrict the denotation of the words Rheumatism and Rheumatic, which are often so loosely employed that they have almost forfeited all claim to be regarded as scientific terms, to one definite set of phenomena, which I believe to depend upon one Single and specific morbid process, of the nature of which it is not yet possible to speak with any degree of certainty.
