This volume is intended to illustrate the history and meaning of the Book of Common Prayer, and more especially of those services which are in most frequent use or have been the subjects of theological discussion. The author has sometimes ventured to repeat his state ments in different chapters, in order to make each chapter as intelligible and complete as its necessary limits will permit.
