Excerpt from The Purpose of Education: An Examination of the Education Problem, in the Light of Recent Psychological Research
It is the object of the present work to apply this knowledge to the elucidation of educational problems, in the hopes that some of the confusions and difficulties which prevail, both in the public mind and that of experts, may, to some extent at any rate, be cleared up. Much of the ground covered will naturally be familiar to teachers and students of the subject; but the explana tions offered of the psychical processes involved in the art of pedagogy may be helpful in the endeavour of reformers to improve and systema tise the somewhat chaotic methods at present in vogue.
