Excerpt from Typical Modern Conceptions of God
Schelling I have not taken up for two reasons. First, his many and chameleon-like changes of view would demand a more extended treatment than falls within the scope of this work, and, secondly, I do not think such an exposition would be worth the trouble expended on it, for the most valuable ideas of Schelling are to be found either in Fichte, Hegel, or Schleiermacher, since Schel ling started from Fichte, Hegel from Schelling, and Schleiermacher developed an independent philosophy of identity.

Paperback. Condition: New. Print on Demand. This book explores the historical and philosophical development of the concept of God, delving into the conceptions of God as described by Fichte, Hegel, Schleiermacher, and Spencer. The author traces the philosophical lineage of ideas about God from German Idealist philosophy to the scientific materialism of the 19th century. The text underscores the importance of the concept of God as a central component in human metaphysical, moral, and aesthetic experience. By examining the conceptions of these four philosophers, the book provides a comprehensive overview of the evolution of the idea of God within Western thought.
