Excerpt from The Plain Man's Pathway to Heaven; Wherein Every Man May Clearly See Whether He Shall Be Saved or Damned: Set Forth Dialogue-Wise, for the Better Understanding of the Simple; Corrected and Much Amended; With a Table of All the Principal Matters, and Three Prayers Necessary to Be Used in Private Families, Hereunto Added by the Same Author
Providential leadings are often pleasing to observe. The re-appearing of " The Plain Man's Pathway to Heaven" came about on this wise.
A man in Christ, reading "Bunyan's Grace Abounding to the Chief of Sinners," came upon the following: -
"Presently after this, I changed my condition into a married state, and my mercy was to light upon a wife whose father was counted godly. This woman and I, though we came together as poor as might be (not having so much household stuff as a dish or spoon betwixt us both), yet this she had for her part, 'The Plain Man's Pathway to Heaven and 'The Practice of Piety,' which her father had left her when he died. In these two books I would sometimes read with her; wherein I also found some things that were somewhat pleasing to me; but all this while I met with no conviction. She, also, would be often telling me what a godly man her father was, and how he would reprove and correct vice, both in his house and among his neighbours; and what a strict and holy life he lived in his days, both in word and deeds... Wherefore, these books, with the relation, though they did not reach my heart, to awaken it about my sad and sinful state, yet they did beget within me some desires to reform my vicious life, and fall in very eagerly with the religion of the times, to wit, to go to church twice-a-day, and that too with the foremost; and there would very devoutly both say and sing as others did, yet retaining my wicked life."
To see this book, "The Plain Man's Pathway to Heaven," the reader felt a great desire.

Paperback. Condition: New. Print on Demand. This book delves into the profound questions of human nature, sin, and the path to salvation. Through a series of dialogues, the author explores the concept of original sin and its impact on humanity, arguing that all are born in a state of corruption and misery, unable to please God through their own efforts. Set against the backdrop of religious persecution in Elizabethan England, the book reflects the anxieties and theological debates of the time. It emphasizes the necessity of regeneration through faith and the power of the Holy Spirit, contrasting true inward transformation with mere outward morality or intellectual understanding. The author addresses common misconceptions and objections, challenging the prevailing belief that outward piety or good deeds are sufficient for salvation. He emphasizes the importance of hearing and understanding the Word of God, highlighting the dangers of ignorance and the transformative power of the Gospel. Ultimately, this book offers a compelling and introspective journey for those seeking to understand the human condition and the path to true spiritual renewal. It reminds us that despite our inherent sinfulness, God's abundant mercy and grace are available to all who repent and believe.
