Excerpt from The Manzano Group of the Rio Grande Valley, New Mexico
While my principal Object is to present the evidence that tends to fix the geologic age of the red beds of the Rio Grande valley, the rela tion of these to other beds of similar nature is also considered. How ever, I have no intention to discuss the various aspects of the com plicated Red Beds problem or even to review the numerous contributions to it. I purpose, rather, to confine attention to such phenomena as I have personally Observed in the field and to such considerations as may have a direct bearing upon the interpretation of these observations.

This book examines red sedimentary rocks exposed along the Rio Grande in New Mexico, providing new insight into long-standing questions about their origins and age. The author presents evidence proving these rocks were formed in the Pennsylvanian era, solving a long-disputed quandary surrounding the regionās geologic history. The book also challenges conventional wisdom about the age of similar but distant red rock formations, setting the stage for future research that will help unravel the story of the complex geologic forces that shaped the American Southwest landscape during the Pennsylvanian period.
