Arthur John Rees (1872–1942), was an Australian writer born in Melbourne. He is best remembered for his mystery and detective novels and short stories. Although he was a prolific writer and his works were enjoyed widely in Australia and England, his biography is obscured. He most likely traveled to Europe in his early twenties and lived in England for some time. Many of his novels are set in English locations.

Paperback. Condition: New. Print on Demand. This book traces the quest of Robert Turold, a man with a singular obsession to restore a long-lost title of nobility to his family. After decades of research, he uncovers the missing pieces of his ancestral lineage, proving his descent from a medieval baron and establishing his claim to the peerage. However, as Robert prepares to take his place among the elite, a shocking revelation emerges: his daughter, Sisily, is illegitimate. The author explores the tension between Robert's relentless pursuit of his ambition and the consequences it holds for his family. The disclosure of Sisily's status threatens to cast a shadow over the newly acquired title, raising questions about the morality of sacrificing personal relationships for the sake of social status. Through the lens of the Turold family, the book delves into themes of ambition, duty, and the complexities of familial bonds. It examines the impact of historical events and societal expectations on individuals, offering a poignant and thought-provoking meditation on the choices we make in life.
