Tm: first three Lectures, on Body and Mind, and the last two Essays, in this volume, appeared in the First Edition. The Lecture or Address on Conscience and Organization, and the Essays on Hamlet and Sweden borg, are additions. Nearly half the book therefore consists of matter which was not contained in the First Edition. Under these circumstances, a slight addition has been made to the title-page, in order to indi cate, so far as was possible, the character of the new matter which has been added.
