Synopsis

Excerpt from Creative Revolution: A Study of Communist Ergatocracy

In discussing the general philosophy of the movement during these years, we should darken counsel were we to import into the argument a con trast which had for the time passed into abeyance. Further, at the hour when we write, the diverg ence between the two wings of the movement de pends quite as much upon sources of inspiration, class associations, and the characteristics of class aims, as upon doctrinal differences. The philoso phy and the trend of right - wing socialism are substantially middle class. Left-wing socialism, on the other hand, is fundamentally proletarian. Enough! The definition requisite at this point is the definition of socialism.

Paperback. Condition: New. Print on Demand. This book delves into the heart of socialist thought, dissecting its various schools and their approaches to achieving a more equitable society. It explores the historical evolution of socialist ideas, contrasting the gradual reformism of social democrats with the revolutionary zeal of communists. Central to the discussion is the concept of "ergatocracy," a term coined by the author to describe a society governed by and for the workers. The book critically examines democracy, arguing that it often masks the rule of the wealthy and powerful. Instead, it proposes ergatocracy as a more authentic form of rule by the people, where power rests with those who contribute to society through their labor. The author delves into the philosophical underpinnings of different socialist movements, exploring the ideas of prominent thinkers and activists. Key themes include the role of class struggle, the nature of the state, and the potential for revolutionary change. The book also examines alternative models of economic organization, such as syndicalism and guild socialism, which advocate for worker control over the means of production. Ultimately, this book provides a thought-provoking analysis of socialism's diverse currents and their visions for a just and equitable future. By exploring the complexities of ergatocracy and the dynamics of class struggle, it offers valuable insights into the ongoing quest for a society where power and wealth are shared by all.
