Prof. N. H. Williams of the Department of Physics, University of Michigan. It should be stated, however, that in the prepara tion of the exercises many sources of information have been drawn upon, acknowledgment in each individual case not always being considered necessary, or convenient.
The author cannot hope that these problems are entirely free from errors. He will consider it a favor, therefore, if teachers who use the text will inform him of corrections or criticisms.
