Excerpt from The Principles of Mechanics as Applied to the Solar System: With Illustrations, Showing by Radiating Lines the Manner in Which the Forces of the Sun Are Applied to the Planets and the Manner in Which the Forces of the Sun and Planets Emanate From Themselves; Also, the Causes of Magnetic Currents, Heat, Ocean Curre
The diameters, distances, times of revolution, etc., used by the author are from the more recent calculations.
It has been the effort of the author to describe and illus trate the claims herein set forth by principles that the general reader can readily understand and with which the common experiences of life familiarize as. The use of technical terms has been carefully avoided, as much as possible, so that the reader, casual or otherwise, may be better able to reject or approve of the idea presented to the mind for consideration.
It has likewise been the aim of the author to reject the many opportunities to incite the mind of the reader to wonder, astonishment or admiration, preferring rather to represent as nearly as possible the Operations of our plane tary system within a space that will enable the mind to comprehend the movements of the planets and comets revolving around the Sun, making the solar system appear as a simple and natural combined piece of mechanism, or a mere toy of the universe.

Paperback. Condition: New. Print on Demand. This book presents a dynamic theory of planetary motion and the forces that govern our Solar System. The author challenges established scientific beliefs, proposing that a repelling force emanates from the Sun and planets, interacting with an attractive force to create the observed planetary motions. By examining the movements of Mercury, Venus, Earth, and Mars, the book illustrates how this force influences their orbits, axial tilts, and interactions with moons. The author argues that this repelling force is not merely a theoretical concept but an active principle that shapes the celestial mechanics of our Solar System.
