Excerpt from Psychology of the Other-One: An Introductory Text-Book of Psychology
The present book is the result of the necessity, existing in some colleges and universities, of giving elementary instruction in mod ern psychology to college students who are only members of the freshman class, to students who have never studied psychology before, to students who may never study it later, to students who have little knowledge of physics and chemistry and perhaps still less of biology, to students who take an elementary course in psychology in order to take afterwards a course in educational psychology, and to students who want elementary psychology for a better understanding of the problems of the social sciences. For these classes of college students this book is written as a text to be elaborated by the instructor as he wishes, by the aid of lectures, additional reading assignments, or laboratory work.

Paperback. Condition: New. Print on Demand. This book delves into the fascinating world of human behavior, challenging traditional philosophical views of the "Self" and instead focusing on the "Other-One" - the individual we observe and interact with. The author, rejecting the subjective and intangible, advocates for a scientific approach grounded in the measurable evidence gathered through our senses. The book explores the fundamental mechanics of human actions, comparing them to the behavior of simpler organisms like snails, demonstrating the complex but ultimately predictable nature of our interactions with the world. Through detailed analysis of movement, stimulus and response, and the structure of the nervous system, the author challenges the notion of a mysterious "soul" and replaces it with a grounded, mechanistic understanding of human behavior. This insightful work offers a fresh perspective on the human condition, freeing us from the constraints of subjective notions and revealing the underlying scientific principles that govern our actions. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format.
