Excerpt from Progressive Carpentry: Together With a System of Framing Roofs
It has long been the purpose of the author to present to the public his new system of constructive carpentry - viz.: the plumb and level line system, by which all bevels and cuts may be obtained for any conceivable form of frame work, without the necessity of making extra drawing for that purpose, as required in other methods.
The work of preparation for this book was begun about thirty years ago, but the continued pressure of other business matters compelled deferment. It is now the Sincere belief of the author that a good and wise providence controlled, because many very valuable and important improvements have recently been added, and which would not have appeared had the work been produced earlier, but are now presented.
