“Hou Long Xu Yi Shi ” is a collection of stories about the people and ambience at a poor corner in the south part of Beijing around and after 1950s. The book reproduced the common life of the impecunious people who crowded in the narrow alleys( hutong) and multi-family courtyards( dazayuan), as well as their misfortune in the political movements. These stories reflect my hard feeling, sympathy, and strong nostalgia. The stories in the book are a true illustration of history. The readers will find themselves crossing space-time and landing in a special coordinate system. Among these laborers, each of them was just like a small boat floating on the sea wobbly, some even struggled under the water.
