A multifunctional, smart coating for the autonomous control of corrosion is being developed based on micro-encapsulation technology. This paper summarizes the development, optimization, and testing of microcapsules specifically designed to be incorporated into a smart coating that will deliver corrosion inhibitors to mitigate corrosion autonomously.
