Synopsis

""First With The Most: Forrest"" is a biography of Confederate general Nathan Bedford Forrest, written by Robert Selph Henry. The book explores the life and military career of Forrest, who is considered one of the most controversial figures of the Civil War. Henry delves into Forrest's early life as a slave trader, his rise to prominence as a cavalry commander, and his controversial tactics on the battlefield, including the massacre of Union troops at Fort Pillow. The book also examines Forrest's post-war life, including his involvement in the Ku Klux Klan and his efforts to reconcile with the Union. Through extensive research and analysis, Henry provides a comprehensive portrait of a complex and often misunderstood figure in American history. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
