Not illustrated. 1725 Excerpt: ...Justice upon Oath, not paying the Penalties, to be committed to the House of Correction, and kept to hard Labour for a Month, unless the Penalties be sooner paid, XVI. fDtat. 9 Anna, cap. 25. The Statute 5 Anne, cap. 14, is made perpetual; and after 1 May 1711, no Lord of a Manor shall appoint more than one Game-keeper in one Manor, with Power to kill and destroy the Game; and his Name ihall be entred with the Clerk of the Peace, without Peace, who shall give him a Certificate thereof, paying 1 s. and if any Game-keeper, whose Name sliall not be thus entred, or who is not otherwise by Law qualified to kill Game, shall kill any Hare, Feasant, &c. or is any other Person, not being qualified in his own Right, shall sell, or expose to Sale, any Hare, Feasant, Partridge, Moor, Heath-Game or Growse, he shall, for every Offence, incur such Forfeitures as are inflicted by the said Act on Higlers, Carriers, Inn-keepers, &c. for buying or selling Game; such Forfeitures to be recovered in such Manner as prescribed by that Act. XVII. Is any Hare, &c. shall be found in the Shop, House, or Possession of any Person not qualified in his own Right to kill Game, or being entitled thereunto by some Person qualified, the lame shall be adjudged an Exposing to Sale.
