This good one created no small amount of merriment amongst his hearers; in fact, the crowd round him laughed so loud and long that he thought it better to adjourn to his own diggings, there to tell the tale to a more appreciative audience--namely Mrs. and the young McGregors. For many years afterwards it became a standing joke in the Big Rock country, and no story was oftener told, or received with more zest, than that of 'The Banker's Brush.' NOTES ON NOVELTIES.
