The subscription for four numbers of the Philosopher, is 1/.--each number will contain 160 pages. Should the subscriptions cover the expenses, I shall continue this work till I have published all the biographical analogies contained in the preceding list; I shall add extracts of the biographical notes of characters who are playing their parts at the present moment, and the second number will contain the biographical notes of Macdonald duke of Tarento, and Marmont duke of Treviso, commander-in-chief of the army of Portugal. The biographical analogies will be continued in it to Generals Bender and Wurmser. Independently of certain particular document which I have in my possession, I have several valuable works, such as Le Dictionaire Historique et Critique, neuvieme edition, Paris 1810; Dictionaire Biographique, Londres, 1800; Biographie moderne, seconde edition, Breslau, 1806; Le Galerie Militaire, Paris, 1804, &c. My residence upon the continent enables me to steer clear of many inaccuracies with which these works abound, although they are the best that can be procured upon the subject. I avail myself, however, of what they afford me, and which I should never have been able to recollect without their assistance. Subscriptions are received at the author's, No. 48 Frith-street, Soho-square. Cash, or the favour of any communications, are requested to be sent post paid. The Philosopher will be sent to subscribers previous to its being sold to the public; they are therefore requested to favour me with their addresses with exactness, in order to avoid delay or mistakes.
