Similar ulcers are observed in the lips and gums, in the inside of the mouth and nostrils: the disease sometimes develops itself in the sinuses, and produces ulcers, which discharge a highly setid matter. In some cases the voice alters, and hoarseness and aphonia take place. Particular symptoms are observed also in several other parts: In the ear, an erosion of the guttural conduit, and different affections in the organs of hearing. Towards the eyes, a swelling of the edge of the eye-lids, with hardness, itching, redness, ulceration, and excrescences. On the conjunctive mem-" brane, flow, obstinate ophthalmiæ, and the different phænomena which are the consequence of them. Towards the genitals, ulcers similar to the primitive chancres, but which sollow a more rapid progress. On On.the skin, spots of different sorms, sizes, and Colours; sissures in the skin of the hands/ and ist the soles of the seet; an itching, with an exudation Of a reddish matter: the epidermis detaches itself in pieces; pustulous tumours, hard, dry, and scaly, and sometimes ulcerated, more remarkable at the angles of the lipsj the alæ of the nofe, around and on the whole extent of the scalp, take place; the hair, nails, fee. fall off; In a word, phlegmonous tumours, which sollow a very stow progress, may arise towards the lymphatic glands.
