Rudolf von Jhering wurde am 22. August 1818 in Aurich/Ostfriesland geboren und starb am 17. September 1892 in Göttingen. Er war ein deutscher Jurist. Er stammte aus einer Juristenfamilie, die seit 1522 in Ostfriesland nachweisbar ist. Einer seiner Vorfahren wurde 1772 zum Namensgeber des ostfriesischen Ortes Jheringsfehn. Jhering studierte in Heidelberg, Göttingen, München und Berlin, wo er 1842 auch promoviert wurde. Nach Professuren in Basel, Rostock, Kiel, Gießen kam er 1868 nach Wien. Dort hielt er seinen berühmten Vortrag "Der Kampf ums Recht", der in zwei Jahren zwölf Auflagen erlebte und in 26 Sprachen übersetzt wurde. Quelle: de.wikipedia.org
