Thero is a company being formod in Halifax with $600,000 capital to prosecute deep soa fishing and send tho fish all over the Dominion packed in ice. By Mr. Dymond. Q. Is that the 'first effort of the kind that has been made?--Yes, so far as I know. Q. Hitherto you have proceedod in rather a slow and old fashioned method?--I think wo keep up with all the improvements in fishing. Q. Your object in combining is to bring together a large amount of capital, use improved vessels and other appliances?--Yes. Q. You would send the fish over the Intercolonial Itaihvay?--Yes. Q. Then wo would have some freights oven without coal in return for oor produce?--Yes; but if you had coal the trade would be very much larger. Q. Are you prepared to adopt a retaliatory tariff with the United States?--Yes. Q.
