About the Author
LORI Y WAYNE EARL son los padres de Esther Earl y los fundadores de la organización sin ánimo de lucro This Star Won't Go Out (tswgo.org), cuya misión es ayudar económicamente a familias que se enfrentan al día a día de un hijo con cáncer. Juntos han creado un sistema de apoyo por el que han repartido los más de $130,000 dólares conseguidos mediante la venta de pulseras TSWGO y donativos individuales a través de LeakyCon, Project for Awesome, y otras actividades para recaudar fondos puestas en marcha por agrupaciones y particulares.
ESTHER EARL fue una adolescente con un talento y lucidez excepcionales, pero una adolescente normal, al fi n y al cabo. Se esforzó por vivir con ilusión y generosidad, especialmente tras saber que su cáncer de tiroides era terminal.El escritor John Green conoció a Esther en una convención de Harry Potter, y entre ellos nació una profunda amistad, tan profunda que el novelista le dedicó su novela Bajo la misma estrella y ha escrito el prólogo a este libro.
Desde 2010 John Green y sus seguidores celebran el Día de Esther cada 3 de agosto, en el que, a petición de Esther, se expresa el amor hacia amigos, familiares y personas importantes a las que no solemos decir "Te quiero."
