Drowning in Salt Water is a raw, brave look at sexual violence and how it seeped into the everyday life and love of the writer, Kevin C. Mitchell. Poetic but unflinching, it offers the perspective of a male victim. Kevin is a community activist, emcee, and poet. He works to lift up People of Color and other marginalized groups throughout his community. Kevin has leadership roles in several nonprofit organizations. He also speaks publicly on social justice issues and leads workshops to help move members of the community towards healing. His first collection of poetry, Words from a Field Negro, was recognized by the Pikes Peak Arts Council. He received the People’s Choice Golden Ticket Award as top author in Colorado Springs for 2019.
