Synopsis
Agnes, a 30-year-old Catholic nurse from Goa, India, now lives in the United States as a naturalized citizen. As a teenager living in Goa, she once possessed a rare clarity of mind—sparked by an early encounter with Buddhism—that gave her a quiet sense of purpose. Nearly two decades later, that clarity has faded, buried beneath the weight of responsibility, routine, and compromise.
Haunted by a moral dilemma born from her work, Agnes takes leave from her life in America and returns to India, seeking refuge with her nani and aunties. There, she begins searching for spiritual guidance, investigating gurus who might help her break free from her growing sense of inner stagnation.
Her journey takes an unexpected turn when she meets the enigmatic August Bell. Together, they set out on a cycling expedition across the Hi-Line, exploring traditions of Asian wisdom while confronting doubts, desires, and illusions.
