For author Peter Knoester, putting thoughts on paper isn't as easy as it sounds. Not after ninety years and not after everything he's lived through. Growing up during World War II and enduring the Hunger Winter, the Dutch famine of 1944-1945 in the Nazi-occupied Netherlands, have greatly influenced Peter's outlook on life. They shaped who he is as a person-as did his time as a merchant marine and his career outside the navy.
Based on the author's religious upbringing and personal experiences, Thoughts and Poetry on Paper is a collection of poems, stories, and personal musings on religion and life. This book examines everyday life with curiosity and a keen eye. From rhyming poems with playful turns of phrases to heartfelt stories about nature, Peter's faith and passion for life and storytelling shine through. While this collection embraces a religious perspective, the themes and stories are universal. Hope, appreciation, and a deep love for the world resonate beyond these pages.
Like many books, Thoughts and Poetry on Paper started with the author's need to express himself. To understand his experiences and the world. Meditative and loving, this book is one man's efforts to unravel how the past shapes his present-and himself.
