Synopsis

This volume comprises "A Charge and Sermon," along with an introductory discourse and confession of faith, delivered at the ordination of the Rev. Mr. Abraham Booth on February 16, 1769, in Goodman's Fields. Featuring contributions from Benjamin Wallin and Samuel Stennett, prominent figures in the 18th-century Baptist community, this work offers insights into the theological and ecclesiastical practices of the time.

The texts provide valuable primary source material for understanding Baptist theology, sermon delivery, and ordination traditions. "A Charge and Sermon" captures a significant moment in the career of Abraham Booth, a notable Baptist minister, and reflects the religious and intellectual climate of 18th-century England. This volume will appeal to scholars interested in religious history, Baptist studies, and the history of sermon literature.
